Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon has reportedly switched his sights from Batman to Iron Man.
IESB claims that British actor Gary Oldman (of Warner Bros.’ Batman and Harry Potter franchises) has joined the cast of Iron Man 2. Oldman, who is currently shooting Warners’ The Book of Eli in New Mexico, was said to have been spotted on the L.A. set of Iron Man 2 this week.
“We don’t have any character confirmation, but we are hearing he could possibly be Howard Stark, father to Tony, previously rumored to be played by Tim Robbins. But that role is also rumored to be the one filled by Mad Men’s John Slattery,” according to IESB.
Marvel today officially announced the start of principal photography on Iron Man 2, which is slated for release May 7, 2010. The cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, John Slattery, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson. Jon Favreau will direct Iron Man 2, with the screenplay by Justin Theroux.
UPDATED: Joblo spoke with Gary Oldman’s manager Douglas Urbanski who denied that his client is in Iron Man 2 and said he was never on the film’s set.
